Selling T-Shirts for Gamers, How do I Avoid Copywrite Issues? - Josh Loe

Selling T-Shirts for Gamers, How do I Avoid Copywrite Issues?

I have recently purchased a fantastic domain for the purpose of potentially starting to create and sell t-shirts related to gaming. I am split between two ideas.

1. Creating apparel based on what some licenced video game characters wear ex. Dante from the Devil May Cry series.

2. Creating a line of T-Shirts featuring (either a combination or individually) quotes or images of licenced video game characters.

I am curious what legal implications i may be faced with. Is there any way to make this work without a potential lawsuit or cease and desist? Is getting written permission from the publisher necessary if the character in question is not representative or in the likeness of any real life person?

Absolutely any information that can be provided outside of “talk to a lawyer” would be fantastic and much appreciated!

Edit: After reading the comments it appears it is not possible, so I will just onsell the domain. Thank you all.
